The Nuts and Bolts. How AIM intends to get the job done.
It will be a two step process
Step One
We will begin by signing up members. This will be the most difficult but the most important part of the process. We need to have numbers in the millions to be successful. We also must clearly demonstrate that this is a non-partisanship, grassroots movement and our members come from all political points of view.
Step Two
Aim will go to work during the primary elections. The key to AIM’s success will be to remain a non-partisan, grass roots political movement. This will be nearly impossible if we enter the political process during the general elections. The general elections are where partisanship is the driving force behind political campaigns. Therefore AIM will focus on the primary elections where it’s Republicans vs. Republican and Democrat vs. Democrat.
Each State will have their own AIM advisory Board of Directors consisting of two members from each political party and three independents. The State advisory boards will seek out the candidates running for office to determine if the candidates will endorse AIMS two goals. Will the candidate promise in writing they will not vote in favor of any bill that exempts Congress, and will go back and amend those laws that presently do? If their answer is no then they will not obtain AIMs’ endorsement in the election.
We know politicians will promise almost anything to be elected. How will AIM know they will not just say one thing and do another. We will demand they put their money where their mouth is. We will ask each candidate one key question. Do they consider themselves to be a Federal employee or a representative of the American citizen? Now legally they are Federal employees and are eligible for all kinds of great health care and retirement benefits. However, there is no requirement that a Congress member actually accept those benefits. From now on, those great deals are to be reserved for our Federal employees not our Congress.
If the Candidate elects to participate in those plans, they will not get our support. Congress must depend on Social Security for their retirement just like us. They must to go out in the marketplace to find affordable Health Care just like us. Congress will have to live our life for a change. If the candidate will not agree to this or if the incumbent is unwilling to abandon their sweetheart benefits, then it is likely they will continue to consider themselves above the common citizen. We will then be forced to put those candidates in the unemployment line.
