California Health Care Bill SB 810
News Release AIM Members of California
Preliminary Findings
Below is a link to a health care bill that apparently will be passed by the California Legislature. While AIM takes no stance on any legislation we do take a stance on legislation or portions of legislation that exempts or benefits legislators or any special friends of the lawmakers. Below is the link to the entire bill.

The American Independent Movement preliminary findings indicate there are provisions in the bill that seem to favor Government Employees (Legislators) and health care benefits whose health care plans were negotiated under a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Specifically sections:
140231. (a) The Premium Commission shall perform the following
functions:
140231 (a) 8 Include an exemption for employers and employees who are
subject to a collective bargaining agreement and participate in a
Taft-Hartley Trust Fund that pays the employer and employee share of
the premium to the Healthcare Fund.
And under the benefit portion of the bill:
140504 (h) Nothing in this division shall be construed to diminish the
benefits that an individual has under a collective bargaining
agreement.
140504 (i). Nothing in this division shall preclude employees from
receiving benefits available to them under a collective bargaining
agreement or other employee-employer agreement that are superior to
benefits under this division.
The American Independent Movement will be seeking clarification and if our initial reading of the bill is in error, we will update our membership.
